By Our Crystal Meditation Advisor Martin Campbell

OUR fabulous astrology expert Hernestus has informed me that today is the The Leo New Moon or "Sacerdote Moon" of Antinous". Hernestus suggests that this moon will encourage us to focus on spiritual insight and invigorating your connection with your spirit guide.

Spirit guides come in many forms and watch over every aspect and object in our lives. We are used to the concept of (typically!) a native American standing at our shoulder and gently guiding us down the right path.

Or maybe a specific angel who you identify with and gives you particular aspects of their soul to guide you.

These are correct for many people - but not all. You see these guides, angels, saints, gods - whatever you want to call them - are divine aspects of you. You simply call in divinity to support and guide you in any way you need. So you can have a guide to help you with writing, numbers, emotion, mending a broken computer or choosing the right shirt for that important date.

Soman and I regularly call for such divine help. If we have lost something or need help with something we ask the angel of that 'thing' to help us.

For example, we were putting up some new light fittings. We are no electricians so some things baffled us. We consciously called on the angels of light fittings to help us.

Within minutes we had figured it out and the lights were up and working!

So what crystals would make this connection to such guides more fluid and significant? I would suggest the following:

Kyanite - these crystals are typically banded layers of crystal - often in roughly rectangular chunks. There are various colours. It can be used to make a clear connection to the divine spirit you need at any given time.

Lapis Lazuli - these are fabulous, deep blue, stones flecked with gold. They have many dramatic aspects to them which made them much sought after by ancient priests, Kings, Queens and Emperors.

The Pharoahs of ancient Egypt often incorporated them into their jewels (top photo). Part of the attraction was that Lapis assists the holder/wearer to quickly connect with a spirit guide.

TONIGHT's Leo New Moon is your opportunity to let your inner Sun shine forth so that you become the being you were born to be.

In the Religion of Antinous we call this the SACERDOTE MOON because it represents the priestly spiritual development of Antinous from boyhood to mystery initiation and finally to godhood.

Each lunar phase represents a Divine Spirit or Archetype. The Spirit of the Sacerdote is Spirituality itself. It is holiness and sacredness personified.

The Leo New Moon is the fierce moon of kindling the flame of courageous new faith.

This is the night to kick-start your self-esteem, to jump-start the dead battery that is your career or your love life or your artistic ambitions.

We all know the feeling -- chronic low self-esteem, chronic insecurity, a habitual feeling of powerlessness, of being at the mercy of others.

Take heart!

We are approaching one of the most sacred periods in our Liturgical Calendar. ANTINOUS THE GAY GOD is saddling up and preparing to engage in the SACRED LION HUNT.

The LEO NEW MOON which ushers in the season of the SACRED LION HUNT. Antinous fights the lion and grapples with the lion -- he and the lion become ONE and the SAME -- they join forces to create divinity -- HOMOTHEOSIS.

The awe-inspiring "Strength" card (shown here) from Stevee Postman's COSMIC TRIBE TAROT beautifully symbolizes what we are talking about.

During the LEO NEW MOON, we have the opportunity to shine. There's an ebullient child-like energy that draws forth the playful and creative self that resides within. Yet, when doing so care is usually taken since Leo wants to be nothing if not dignified.

The Sun God sign Leo aligns us with a feeling of wanting to be recognized and embraced for the special being we are. If other people's interactions with and attitudes towards us do not meet with these expectations, our pride is hurt and we roar with indignant rage.

Which is not a bad thing. Most gay men have problems expressing anger. We have been taught to be "nice" boys. We have been brainwashed to believe that "nice" means never daring to speak up for ourselves, never taking care of "Number 1". The result is that our pent-up rage sometimes makes us turn into a wild and raging beast -- the lion!

ANTINOUS THE GAY GOD has mastered the art of grappling with those leonine energies. He shows us that it is possible to become one with our "inner lion" -- without being devoured by it.

He shows us how to harness the enormously powerful Leonine energies inside us in order to boost our self-esteem, to end our powerlessness, and to energize us into standing up for ourselves with dignity and pride.

Antinous allows us to see how important it is to be generous in spirit and to radiate our inner light to those around us. He shows us how if we do not let our vital energy flow,  we may experience stress, tension and RAGE in our hearts, bodies, and mind. The Leo New Moon reminds us that we should proudly express our essential self -- a being that has great gifts to offer those with whom it orbits.

The SACRED LION HUNT demonstrated to Hadrian and the world -- and most importantly to Antinous himself -- that Antinous was no longer a common-born kid from the provinces. It showed that He was on the road towards Divinity.

The New Moon in Leo is also special to the Religion of Antinous because the Leo New Moon is creative and playful. The Leo New Moon is a bit of a show-off and likes to be in the spotlight, with all heads turned his way -- as with the Beauteous Boy himself.

The Leo New Moon is also eager to throw out old and ineffective habitual ways of thinking -- "I'm old, fat and stupid" "I'm unworthy" -- and eager to go for new solutions which will help us to get out of the rut which has become our everyday lives.

Many of you are familiar with the experience of waking up to the fact that your life is no longer working the way you have set it up. Sometimes this is due to a shift occurring inside yourself over time, and sometimes it is part of the larger shift that is currently affecting all humanity.

Change is happening at such an increased rate that it is difficult to predict what the future holds. As a result, many of the old ways of planning out a life are no longer applicable, and if you cling to them you feel strangely out of tune with reality. If you are in tune with the LEO NEW MOON energies around you, you will begin to question ideas that just a few years ago seemed sensible.

In the simplest terms, the shift you are undergoing right now has to do with recognizing yourself as being more than human -- the process we call HOMOTHEOSIS -- remembering that your earthly aspects are a very small part of who you are.

In truth, you are a multidimensional being. Gay-Man-Godliness-Becoming-the-Same.

When you begin to realize this, the life you planned for a limited conception of yourself no longer fits. You must meet the needs and qualifications not only of your body (the "monkey" as Flamen Antonyus calls it) but also of your Spiritual Heart.

This realization dawns slowly for some and with the suddenness of a bolt of lightning for others, and each of you must find the way that works for you to integrate this new and larger sense of self into your life plan.

Tonight during this Leo New Moon, take time to reflect on becoming who you were born to be. Rather than focusing on a specific task, go to the center of your heart and meditate on the core strength of your soul.

Perhaps you are here to bring beauty, whether through art, justice, or fashion. Perhaps you are here to help heal the  offering of the world, whether through your writing, activism, or as a physician.

Or maybe you are here to bring insight and truth where there is confusion and ignorance....

By the way, Leo rules the heart, spine, and hair. Pay extra attention to these parts of your body around the time of this Leo New Moon.

OUR sage astrological adviser Hernestus has advised me that the next moon phase is the "Tribune Moon" the Aries Third Quarter Moon. It represents an alpha male and discipline and orderliness in life, obedience, attention to detail, it is about self-assertiveness.

With all of this in mind I recommend that your meditations during this moon phase would be best enhanced by holding, or placing near you, the following crystals:

Bronzite - These beautiful mottled stones (in the top photo) help to support masculine energies within your body but also in your consciousness.

Onyx - Typically black (although can be found in other colours) these powerful stones help you to recognize and integrate the dualities we often have within us. This will lead to better self-control.

In Light and Life,

TONIGHT's Aries Third Quarter Moon is the lunar phase of the determined warrior which we call the TRIBUNE MOON in Antinous Moon Magic.

If you are someone lacking in self-assertiveness, then Antinous the Moon God is sending assertiveness your way on his moonbeams tonight ... so that you can forge ahead in with determination and vigor.

Each lunar phase represents a Divine Spirit or Archetype.

The Spirit of the Tribune Moon is the dominant Alpha Male, the leader of the pack. This spirit is symbolized by the Roman tribune riding in triumph through the Forum.

It is the Spirit of discipline and obeying orders ... and giving orders which earn the respect and admiration of others.

It is the Spirit that likes order and rules and expects others to abide by his own code of behavior. This Spirit leads the charge into battle and is a born leader.

Many gay men have a hard time asserting themselves. We equate assertiveness with "aggression" and "being a bully." And so, many of us gay men go through our lives trying to stifle and suppress any sort of assertiveness. We try to be good little boys ... all of our lives.

And yet ... each of us is born with Aries warrior energy in abundance. He always finds a way to get out and exert himself. If we spend our lives suppressing our inner warrior energy, then it seeps out in destructive ways. We have problems with pent-up rage. We have problems with self-destructive habits. We build an impenetrable shield of fear and disdain around ourselves.

We are afraid of being hurt. And we are afraid of hurting others. So we hurt ourselves instead. Our lives turn into chaos.

The Tribune Moon is about confronting your fears ... above all, your fear of baring your true self to others. It is about turning your weaknesses into your strengths. It is about transforming destructive energies into constructive ones. It is about finding ... and fulfilling ... your destiny ....

Meditations and rituals tonight are best suited for finding ways to assert your will constructively ... for the benefit of yourself and for others.

I always say that any rock or sand has crystal healing qualities.

We walk on Crystal every day and drink from glasses formed from sand crystals.

They surround us and bless us.

THE PERSEID meteors streak across the heavens from mid-July to mid-August. Go outside on a clear night and you will see dozens of meteors.

They appear to originate in the Constellation of Antinous right in the middle of the July and August night sky — as though Antinous is shooting arrows at you.

The CONSTELLATION OF ANTINOUS is directly right overhead in mid-heaven at this time of year. Go outside about 10 p.m. when it is good and dark and look up. You will see the Milky Way bisecting the sky from north to south. Look for the "Summer Triangle" formed by the stars Vega, Deneb and Altair — they seem to straddle the brightest part of the Milky Way.

Altair is the head of Aquila the Eagle — and Antinous is directly under the Eagle.

The PERSEIDS are a great opportunity for ANTINOUS STAR MAGIC.

How you cast the wish is up to you. If you re a Druid, Wiccan or even just a lapsed Catholic, you know some simple rituals. You can write a wish on a piece of paper and then go outside and look up and, as you repeat the wish aloud while tearing up the piece of paper, a shooting star will catch your eye — and you hold the palm of your hand in front of your mouth and blow away the bits of paper.

The Shooting Star does the rest.

There are many, many other ways of working ANTINOUS STAR MAGIC. As always with such things, the "magic" is within your heart and soul. So there are no firm-and-fast rules ... it all depends on you.

If you are an ARIES, you probably don't believe in such foolishness as "wishing on a star" — but you love to gamble, and so you'll make a wish. And when it comes true, you'll be all the happier.

If you are a TAURUS, you know precisely what you want to wish for, something you've wanted for a long, long time. A leatherette recliner, for example. You love the romance and beauty of a summer evening. You've brought along a lawn chair and a hamper full of food and drink.

If you are a GEMINI, you will be out with friends and you will be talking, laughing or else texting and twittering so much that you may forget to look up and make a wish.

If you are a CANCER you will be overwhelmed by the sheer romantic beauty of it all. You love the cosy setting and being with close friends or family. When you look up, you will make a special wish upon a star in hopes of finding that certain someone. You may stop pouting about how that other special someone broke your heart.

If you are a LEO, you will be convinced that Antinous is indeed shooting these love arrows your way — just for your own personal benefit, of course! And you will make a very grand wish, and you can't wait to show off and brag when it comes true.

If you are a VIRGO, you don't believe in luck, only in thankless hard work, and so you doubt that any wishes ever come true. You are wary of lying back on the grass because you are worried that a tick might bite you and you would contract Lyme Disease. It would be just your luck — Besides, you know it's selfish to wish for things for yourself. And anyway, you think you don't deserve to have a wish come true. But you DO deserve it!

If you are a LIBRAN, you can't decide on just one wish. So you make two wishes (at least). You secretly know you deserve to have your wishes come true more than anybody else, but you are far too diplomatic and tactful ever to say so openly. Your wishes involve matters of love and grace and beauty. You publicly wish good luck to all the others and they all thank you and think you're so nice. Everyone thinks you're their friend and you encourage them in that. Of course, secretly you think they're all morons, and if their lame wishes come true and your lovely wish doesn't come true — then there's no justice in this world.

If you are a SCORPIO, then you will also wish for love — but skip the grace and beauty and get down to the hot and heavy. Something with gleaming black leather and chrome steel chains. That wish better come true, too. You demand obedience.

If you are a SAGITTARIUS, your wish comes true instantaneously — or perhaps has already come true before you actually made the wish. Sagittarians have a direct hotline to the stars, so you always get your wishes -- and don't mind letting others know about it, either.

If you are a CAPRICORN, you don't believe in such frivolous nonsense as wishing on a star. But you have a list of very practical things you would like to wish for. Good dividends on investments, for example. So there's no harm in making a wish. If it comes true, it was "coincidence".

If you are an AQUARIUS, you will be counting the shooting stars ("Wow, 60 in just one hour, that's one a minute!") and you will be estimating what speed they must be traveling to reach the burn-out temperature. You're indoors, of course, watching the spectacle on NASA's streaming video website. You wrote down a wish for a new iPhone on a slip of paper, but you forgot where you put it, maybe it's stuck to the cheese under the Domino's Pizza next to your keyboard. Who cares? There are so many shooting stars to count.

If you are a PISCES, you have made elaborate plans to position yourself on a hilltop where your friends the UFO space aliens will be sure to spot you in your glow-in-the-dark jump suit. Your wish is for the aliens to abduct you ... again.

Make a wish!

ASTRO FORECAST: JULY 6th—30th, 2017

Antinous Astrology Forecast

JULY 6th to 30th, 2017

THURSDAY, JULY 6th, 2017

On Thursday big cosmic changes are in store when, first of all, Mercury leaves Cancer, the one Sign where Mercury feels really bored. Starting now, Mercury fast-forwards through fiery Leo in just two weeks, exiting on July 26th. This will be an exciting two weeks of tweeting, chatting, messaging, emailing, blogging and vlogging for sure. Also on this thrilling Thursday, a Sun trine Neptune aspect enhances your ability to lift the veil between the worlds and to perceive spirits in other realms. You can also receive messages from the beyond and communicate more effectively with your higher self and with spirit guides during this profoundly spiritual configurations. Because Neptune is retrograde (going "backwards" as seen from Earth) you can delve into past-life incarnations. Meanwhile, the Sun is in a 90-degree right angle to Jupiter. These configurations provide great opportunities for success but also some tests of character. You can be very fortunate but also have to make your own luck. Lucky breaks and popularity can lead to an inflated ego and other excesses in life. For example, you may have a tendency to over-estimate your own abilities or resources. This could lead to a scattering of energy or wasting money on unnecessary luxuries. There may also be a tendency to accumulate possessions such as collections of a special thing, coins, figurines etc. It may be that your beliefs and morals become over the top and cause difficulties with others. Excessive behaviors are most problematic because these are more likely to affect your close relationships. Overconfidence can get in the way of making lasting friendships. The key to dealing with the excessive nature of Jupiter is moderation. You can still maintain a healthy ego but you won’t want to let excess and pride damage your standing in the world. Jupiter is testing your ego. Any arrogance or boastfulness may actually be covering for a wounded ego, or a lack of self-confidence. Yes, you do wish to be of importance, to be famous or wealthy and to receive the praise and ovation you deserve. They key to dealing with this aspect, apart from moderation, is to not get ahead of yourself. Focus your energy on doing the groundwork, the daily grind needed to perfect your special gifts.

FRIDAY, JULY 7th, 2017

On Friday expect a message from someone special when we enjoy a Mercury sextile Venus aspect which enhances communicative skills. You may get a message from a business partner or from a friend or lover who ignites interests that quicken your pulse just in time for the weekend.

SAT-SUNDAY, JULY 8th-9th, 2017

This weekend we come to the Capricorn Full Moon, which is the lunar cycle we call the TOWER MOON in memory of the observatory tower which Emperor Hadrian built at his Villa to study the stars. This is the moon for reaching for the stars ... seeking job promotions ... stretching on tiptoes to grasp something previously unattainable.

MON-THURSDAY, JULY 10th-13th, 2017

This week is highly volatile because the Sun is in 180-degree opposition to Pluto. The good news is that Pluto is Retrograde, so its mischief is understated and undercover. But the bad news is that Pluto opposite the Sun means trouble for major corporations and institutions. And in your personal life, of course, This is definitely not a good day to pick a fight with your lover — not if you don't want to be locked out of the apartment all week. And for everyone: Please drive carefully and vigilantly.

FRIDAY, JULY 14th, 2017

On Friday don't believe much of anything you hear when Mercury forms a chatty sextile aspect with Jupiter. Mercury loves to tell tales and Jupiter loves to exaggerate.

SAT-SUNDAY, JULY 15-16th, 2017

This weekend we come to the Aries Third Quarter Moon, which is the lunar phase of the determined warrior we call the TRIBUNE MOON in Antinous Moon Magic ... This lunar phase is particularly powerful this year because it occurs precisely when the Mercury is in an impulsive sextile aspect with Uranus and love goddess Venus is in a dreamy trine with Neptune. If you are someone lacking in self-assertiveness, then ANTINOUS THE MOON GOD is sending assertiveness your way on his moonbeams tonight ... so that you can forge ahead in with determination and vigor ... The Tribune Moon is about confronting your fears ... above all, your fear of baring your true self to others. It is about turning your weaknesses into your strengths. It is about transforming destructive energies into constructive ones. It is about finding ... and fulfilling ... your destiny ... Meditations and rituals this night are best suited for finding ways to assert your will constructively ... for the benefit of yourself and for others.

MONDAY, JULY 17th, 2017

Monday launches one of the most explosive weeks of the year when Mars squares off against Uranus — there might literally be explosions or at least volcanic eruptions when the warrior god is at odds with unpredictable Uranus. This is a classic textbook recipe for terrorist attacks. It definitely spells trouble for the world's hot spots. The threat of assassination looms large, as does the danger of terrorism. You need to be on guard for outbursts of rage. The important thing is to be aware where your rage is coming from. Don't vent your rage on innocent victims. Instead, be consciously aware of the source of your anger so that you can harness the powerful energies of Mars/Uranus to carry out constructive projects you have been stalling on for way too long.

TUESDAY, JULY 18th, 2017

On Tuesday love and money are in the air when Venus forms a trine aspect with Jupiter whilst forming a 90-degree square aspect to foggy Neptune. On the positive side: you can trust your intuition to buy a lottery ticket. But on the negative side, you don't know when to stop and squander your hard-earned money on a bad bet ... in money and love.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 19th, 2017

On Wednesday Mercury forms a brilliant and glowing trine aspect with Saturn which empowers you with perseverance (Saturn) and clear forms of expression (Mercury) to make some serious long-term plans for the future. This is the third and final time that Mercury-trine-Saturn occurs in 2017 ... third time's the charm.

THURSDAY, JULY 20th, 2017

On Thursday you would be well-advised to avoid crowds and potential terrorism targets when the moody Cancer Sun is in a 90-degree right angle to impulsive Uranus even as both are in tense aspects to Pluto and Mars. On the negative side, people run amok and even the weather can be more than usually unpredictable and destructive. On the positive side, however, you might accidentally run into the new love of your life ... while running for shelter.

FRIDAY, JULY 21st, 2017

On Friday Mars enters Leo, to stay there until September 5th. In this period, you will feel very invigorated, with loads of energy to do just about anything. The planet Mars thrives in Leo, so it is a good period for getting lots of things done, even quickly solving problems that used to be just too much. Mars passes through Leo every year and a half, so it's not a life-changing thing. But Mars truly enjoys this period of endless energy and heightened capacity. Make the most of it!

SAT-SUNDAY, JULY 22-23, 2017

This weekend we come to the Leo New Moon. That is the lunar phase we call the SACERDOTE MOON which spiritually kick-starts your life ... Take time to reflect on becoming who you were born to be ... Rather than focusing on a specific task, go to the center of your heart and meditate on the core strength of your soul ... Perhaps you are here to bring beauty, whether through art, justice, or fashion ... Perhaps you are here to help heal the offering of the world, whether through your writing, activism, or as a physician ... Or maybe you are here to bring insight and truth where there is confusion and ignorance.

MONDAY, JULY 24th, 2017

On Monday look for guidance from an older person in financial and relationship issues ... or offer guidance to a younger person ... when Venus is in opposition to Saturn. This is a time when maturity triumphs over youthful zeal. Sit back and heed the guidance of an old soul ... who can also be a spirit guide. And if you see a younger person blundering into a trap, this is the day to intercede and offer a wise word of advice based on personal experience.

TUESDAY, JULY 25th, 2017

On Tuesday you can expect surprise tidings from the other dimensions when Mercury is in a very conducive karmic-healing trine to Uranus. Mercury-trine-Uranus always creates optimal energies for breaking down encrusted old structures and for mentally visualizing bold new solutions. Because Uranus is slowing down and will soon be Retrograde, the emphasis is on the past. Retrograde Uranus opens the portals of Time and Space and Mercury enables you to go through those portals to engage in healing magic involving your own past, or past-life incarnations. Even if you do not work any magic, you can definitely count on receiving a message involving someone or something from the past.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 26th, 2017

On Wednesday you should try to avoid any bickering over the breakfast table. Call a truce until later in the day when you will find healing words for your sweetie after Mercury leaves selfish Leo and enters compassionate Virgo. It has been said that Virgo Mercury is like having a cyber-servant or surrogate replicant who anticipates all your inter-personal communications needs and rushes to your beck and call. Because Mercury goes Retrograde soon, Mercury will be in Virgo until September 5, which means you can expect advice and supportive suggestions for "upgrading" your cognitive and communications skills for the next six weeks (except for one short week when it reverses into Leo).

THURS-FRIDAY, JULY 27-28, 2017

If you feel tense and irritable, remember that the Leo Sun and Mars are in perfect alignment and both are in near-perfect opposition to Pluto and in tenst aspects to Uranus and Jupiter. This is a time to act on your most fervent dreams and desires. Act now while the fire is hot!

SAT-SUNDAY, JULY 29-30, 2017

This weekend we come to the Scorpio First Quarter Moon, which is the lunar phase we call the THIEF MOON in honor of Prometheus ... the first thief ... and it was thanks to his larcenous thievery that humans are not living in burrows and dens like animals ... Rituals and meditations tonight can focus on your "inner thief" — the things you rob yourself of — self-esteem, self-love, self-confidence, for example. By robbing yourself of these qualities, you are vulnerable to real-life thieves ... Tonight's lunar phase is also reminding us about the ability to take what we need without asking in advance. It is about getting back what is rightfully ours.

Another exciting week lies ahead between July 31st and August 6th when we come to the AQUARIUS FULL MOON. This is the summertime moon of generous gifts which we associate with Antinous/Vertumnus, the shape-shifting God of summertime bounty and generous gifts. We call this the DONUM MOON when magical rituals are performed for fortuitous gifts ... More details next time ....

By Our Crystal Meditation Advisor Martin Campbell

OUR wonderful astrological adviser Hernestus has advised me that the next moon phase is the Capricorn Full Moon which is the Antinous Tower Moon in honor of Hadrian's Observatory at his villa in Tivoli near Roma.

Hernestus advised me that this moon would focus on sudden events but also a Gay wizard; a widower; a Grandfather; an old sage or a tribal chieftain. Someone who has become isolated and out of touch with the rest of the world living far removed from his lowly origins. Career advancement or success could also be indicated.

Hernestus also pointed out that Venus (love, finances and interpersonal relationships) is in a sexy sextile with Mercury (business, communications) along with the Full Moon which stresses achievement.

With all of this remarkable energy created by unusual conjunctions I have focused my crystal meditation advice on how to achieve your spiritual goals, isolation, masculinity, love and romance.

With all of this in mind I recommend that your meditations during this moon phase would be best enhanced by holding, or placing near you, the following crystals:

Agate - These crystals (all photos in this entry) can be found in an array of different colours - some of them very spectacular. They have a similarly wide range of specific attributes. However, in general they help you to connect with the universal spiritual source and its interation with the oneness of your physical life on Earth. It will help you achieve spiritual growth.

Almandine Garnet - This crystal is uncommon but can be found online. I recommend it because it brings strength and stamina but also supports you in taking valuable time to focus on your self positively while being separate from life for a while (voluntary or forced).

Bronzite - These beautiful mottled stones  help to support masculine energies within your body but also in your consciousness.

Sardonyx - These beautiful stones were much loved by the Romans for carving stunning cameos and other jewels - particularly those representing relationships. Sardonyx stones are perfect for this moon phase because they bring lasting happiness and stability to relationships. They also resensitize the sensory organs.

Light and Life,

TONIGHT's Capricorn Full Moon is the lunar phase of lofty achievement and remote exaltation which we call the TOWER MOON in Antinous Moon Magic.

Like the visitors in this image climbing to the tower atop Glastonbury Tor, this is the lunar phase for going to the top ... scaling new heights ... reaching for the stars ... seeking job promotions ... stretching on tiptoes to grasp something previously unattainable.

Each Lunar Phase represents a Divine Spirit or Archetype. The Spirit of the Tower Moon is Aloofness. This is a haughty Spirit which demands respect on the basis of seniority and exalted status.

This is the clan elder, the tribal chief, the head of an extended family.

This is the mighty Pharos lighthouse at the entrance to Alexandria Harbor pictured on this page ... proud and strong and daunting every storm ... showing the way through the darkness to a safe haven.

This Spirit is the senior drag queen in a house of young acolytes. This is the rock star who is so famous that he must live in isolation and seclusion.

This Spirit is aloof, but out of touch. This Spirit is lonesome.

We remember the tower which Emperor Hadrian built at his Villa at Tiber outside Rome. He used it as a Temple to Isis and as an observatory to scan the heavens ... alone and remote from the common plebs, Hadrian scanned the heavens in search of celestial signs from his lost Antinous.

The loneliness which you feel during this lunar phase is not necessarily a bad thing. It reminds you that you have responsibilities ... that you alone must make life-changing decisions affecting not only yourself but also those who depend upon you.

Think of the celebrity or world leader who skyrockets to fame and fortune and lofty heights. This person wields enormous influence and power, touching the hearts and minds of millions. But the price is detachment from others ... shielded and cut off from the crowds behind cordons of bodyguards ... secluded in a gated compound ... sealed off in a penthouse office with a view overlooking everyone and everything ... but with no contact.

Meditations and rituals tonight are ideally suited for focusing on achievement and excelling in your own life and helping others to achieve and excel in theirs.

Tonight's rites and prayers enhance your ability to waken the Antinous Tower Moon Spirit within yourself ... the spirit which enables you to achieve lofty heights so that you serve as a beacon for others ... a lone light which saves others from dark perils.

The STAR OF ANTINOUS rules all homosexuals, and its position in a Natal Chart says much about the Astrological Nature of a gay person. To understand this Astrological Nature, it is important to understand how the ancient astrologers viewed the heavens.

The ancients believed that each constellation had different "regions", each of which had a special "flavor" or "nature" which might be different from other parts of the same constellation -- and startlingly different from other regions of the Celestial Sphere.

They also believed that the far-flung regions of the Celestial Sphere had specific properties, especially along the longitudinal lines (north and south), so that stars in Constellations above and below each other tended to have similar "natures" and were thus somewhat related to each other.

It is a modern popular misconception that the ancients named the constellations after certain animals or mythical beings because they thought they could see the shapes of animals or people in the star designs.

That's nonsense, of course. I mean, have any of you ever seen anything looking like a swan or a dog in the stars? You may pick out Orion and Ursa Major (what Americans call The Big Dipper). But have you ever seen any recognizable figures? Of course not. The ancients couldn't see any figures either. What they saw were Sacred Synchronicities.

The real reason for the constellations was explained best by the brilliant Fixed Star Astrologer Vivian E. Robson nearly a century ago:

"The original constellation figures are all traditional and have been a source of annoyance to modern astronomers, who have naturally failed to trace among the stars the slightest resemblance to the objects they are supposed to represent. To those actively engaged in a study of stellar and constellation influences, however, it will soon become apparent that these seemingly fanciful shapes are in reality a fair representation of the collective influences of the stars contained in them, and that the constellation of the Dog, for example, actually influences dogs, ridiculous as it may appear."

Hadrian wasn't looking for an outline in the stars. He was looking for a Sacred Synchronicity.

The stars in Aquila (The Eagle) tend to have the nature of Mars and Jupiter -- with Altair being a prime example of Mars/Jupiter star energy. The stars in Capricorn -- just below Aquila -- tend to be more Venus and Jupiter in nature.

Putting ourselves into the mind-set of the Ancients, we arrive at the probable location of the STAR OF ANTINOUS -- 20 DEGREES CAPRICORN. A New Star along that Celestial Longitude would be the Sacred Sign that Hadrian was seeking.

Hadrian and his court astrologers looked to this region for a celestial sign of the deification of Antinous. Any such sign would have to be located in this region between Aquila and Capricorn. Other regions of the sky were unsuitable. For example, a region heavy in Saturn/Mars stars (highly inauspicious) or, for example, a region studded with Mercury/Jupiter (good for trade and commerce) would all be the wrong place to expect to find a new star suitable for the Deified Antinous. The stars in the region of Aquila/Capricorn were ideal. For one thing, Venus has always been associated with same-sex love.

So when they saw a Super Nova between Aquila and Capricorn (at or very near 20 DEGREES CAPRICORN, as we believe), they knew they had found what they were looking for -- a star with a combination of Mars/Jupiter AND Venus energies.

New stars flare up all over the heavens all the time, of course. But Hadrian was looking for a celestial confirmation in THIS part of the heavens.

While there is surviving no record of precisely what the ancients felt the "nature" of the STAR OF ANTINOUS was, we know that the ancients tended to use the terms "star" and "constellation" interchangeably, so that the STAR OF ANTINOUS and the CONSTELLATION OF ANTINOUS most certainly had the same general "nature". Despite the lack of historical records, we can make a very good projection of that nature based on the stars in the same vicinity (such as Altair and Deneb in Aquila and some of the stars in Capricorn) -- all of which tend to have very similar Mars/Jupiter or Venus/Jupiter energies.

Looking at all of the stars in its immediate vicinity, it becomes clear that the STAR OF ANTINOUS has a Mars/Jupiter/Venus nature -- which would make it rather unique. Few stars have triple natures except for some truly unlucky stars which have Saturn/Mars/Jupiter or similarly very inauspicious natures.

Indeed, it is a curious fact that a lot (if not most) of the Fixed Stars have inauspicious natures. There are few auspicious Fixed Stars. "Lucky Stars" are almost non-existent in Fixed Star Astrology. For the most part, all Fixed Stars are a volatile mixture of lucky and unlucky properties.

The STAR OF ANTINOUS was no different, surely, and Hadrian knew it was a star of both highly rewarding and positive energies but also somewhat dangerous energies. He didn't want it to be a "nice" star. He wanted it to be a powerful star, befitting ANTINOUS THE GAY GOD.

There are surprisingly few books in the English language which go into more than cursory detail about Fixed Stars -- particularly the more obscure stars such as Antinous. But there are a number of truly extraordinary books in the German language, very old and rare books, which tell an amazing story about the star of Hadrian's Beloved. It is from these arcane tomes that most of the information below is derived.

Before consulting the Astrological Natures below, it is important to keep in mind that Fixed Star Astrology is meant to supplement or enhance Zodiacal astrology -- not to contradict it. Fixed Star predictions inevitably are all very exaggerated, as you can see -- foretelling either great success or utter annihilation. The idea is that a skilled astrologer can look at the position of a Fixed Star as a way of enhancing the astrologer's understanding of a native's personality.

Say, an astrologer notices that your Natal Sun is conjunct the STAR OF ANTINOUS. Then that means the star underscores or modifies the basic message of your Natal Sun.

For example, if your Capricorn Natal Sun is conjunct the STAR OF ANTINOUS, then that means the star takes the mercenary Capricorn edge off your Natal Sun and enhances the artistic and intuitive qualities instead. You might be interested in the Capricornian field of architectural engineering, but the conjunction with the STAR OF ANTINOUS might be a signal to an astrologer that your true genius lies in interior design or landscape architecture or perhaps urban planning.

If the Star of Antinous is badly aspected (all those predictions of death and suicide below), the predictions are meant to be seen as supplemental warnings. A skilled astrologer can judge from the rest of the chart how seriously these warnings should be taken -- and how (or whether) to inform the client of them.

Most importantly of all, the Fixed Stars never contradict any of the basics of a person's Natal Chart. They only provide additional information so as to enhance an astrologer's ability to give a person an accurate and detailed reading.

That having been said, Fixed Star Astrology ain't no place for sissies -- to paraphrase Bette Davis' wisecrack about Old Age. Hadrian wasn't looking for a "nice" star. He was looking for a powerful star befitting ANTINOUS THE GAY GOD.
